初稿為鋼琴獨奏曲，創作於1934 年，原名為《鬧新春》，這是一首描寫人民慶祝一年一度新春晚會熱鬧場景的優秀標題鋼琴作品，是一首典型的反映群眾節日喜慶生活、熱烈、蓬勃的具有濃厚民間音樂特色的作品，也是最早創作的、具有開拓意義的中國風格鋼琴作品，表現了人們熱愛生活、積極樂觀的精神。
《晚會》是一首富有鮮明民族色彩的管弦樂曲，結構短小、緊湊，旋律優美、樸素，採用民族調式和民間音樂的旋法，音樂中創造性地運用了中國民間鑼鼓節奏，配器手法簡潔，音色多變，生動形象地描繪出晚會上熱鬧愉快的氣氛。

It was originally drafted as a piano piece in 1934, under the title Celebrating the New Spring. It is an outstanding programmatic piano work depicting the lively scenes of people celebrating the annual Spring Festival gala. This piece is a typical reflection of the festive, jubilant life of the masses—full of vitality and imbued with strong folk musical characteristics. It is also one of the earliest Chinese-style piano compositions of pioneering significance, expressing people’s love of life and their optimistic, energetic spirit.
‘Night Party’ is a richly nationalistic orchestral work, compact in structure, with simple yet beautiful melodies. It adopts folk modes and melodic patterns from traditional Chinese music and creatively incorporates the rhythms of Chinese folk percussions. The orchestration is straightforward, yet the timbres are varied, vividly portraying the lively and joyful atmosphere of the gala.
