Johann Pachelbel composed at least two settings of the Magnificat, both in the Baroque style, notable for their clarity and contrapuntal writing. The most widely known is the Magnificat in D major (P.246), while another survives in manuscript form in C major. Each reflects his liturgical role in Nuremberg and his mastery of vocal and continuo textures.
